Creativity and your skin

Well, I have had a tough time coming up with something to connect creativity and your skin.

So instead, I decided to get creative myself and share with you the concept of “The Four Temperaments”.

If you’ve had a facial treatment with me, then you know I work with color therapy during each session. I can choose colors both according to your “temperament” and/or according to your skin condition. This can be an effective tool for rebalancing both.

The concept of the four temperaments originated with the ancient Greeks, who based them on the classical elements of fire, earth, air, and water.

Rudolf Steiner referred to them frequently to illustrate his insights into human behavior and development.

We all have varying degrees of each temperament, although we tend to be more comfortable with 1 or 2 of them. Imbalances occur when we are more wedded to a single temperament.

The Four Temperaments

Here are the four temperaments and how the Dr. Hauschka’s Aromatherapy Baths can help when you find yourself out of balance.

Choleric
You are a doer and a leader. You take on challenges and get things done, staying active and focused on your work. Physically, you radiate confidence and power. The ancient Greeks associated this temperament with fire and your emotions do tend to be fiery.

Try taking a warm Lavender Bath a few times a week. Lavender cools and relaxes the body, reducing tension and inflammation. As tension dissipates, circulation improves.

Sanguine
You’re positive, happy and bent on enjoying life. Every subject seems to draw your attention and it can be hard to focus and stay grounded. Sanguines are associated with air; an overly sanguine personality tends to be impractical, flighty and airy.

It’s time to get real. A great place to start is with a Spruce Bath. The dense, earthy aroma of spruce essential oil grounds the senses, strengthens roots and restores practicality.

Phlegmatic
You think things through. Your phlegmatic character creates rhythm, consistency, and stability. It loves the predictable. When this water temperament flares up though, life can get watered down. Nothing seems particularly important. In other words, it’s time to wake up.

Indulge in a Lemon Bath to awaken your senses and let pure essential oils of sun-ripened lemons lighten your mood and return freshness and energy to your life.

Melancholic
You are caring, compassionate and openhearted. You’re more philosophical than practical and tend to be spiritually oriented. Grounded to the earth, the extreme melancholic temperament can lean toward introversion and extreme emotional sensitivity.

It’s time to get out of your head and back into your body. Rosemary Bath will warm your body, awaken your senses and rekindle your passions.

Colored lights and fragrances are important accompaniments to the Dr. Hauschka treatment. Incorporating specifically selected colors at specific points in the treatment allows the healing forces of the human being to be supported.

Don’t take my word for it. Come and experience it for yourself!

P.S. Now how was that for being creative?
