Hair and Scalp Treatment for the Summer

When thinking about hair and scalp treatment for the summer, it is good to have some basic understanding of hair. One can imagine a plant beginning as a seed in the soil, germinating and developing roots, as it sprouts up through the earth and into the sunlight. Very briefly, human hair consists of a root, embedded in the skin, and a shaft, projecting from the skin’s surface. Healthy hair grows through all three layers of the skin, beginning at the subcutaneous tissue, and then through the dermis and epidermis. The health of a plant is affected by the quality of the soil, and likewise, the health of the hair is affected by the health of one’s skin.

As a Dr. Hauschka esthetician, I believe your skin is not a separate part of your body. The way it functions is completely related to the way you function as a whole. Skin is a reflection of your health, which is why I believe it is wise to attend to your skin care holistically. This holistic approach includes the scalp and hair.

If one believes that good health will support a healthy head of hair, then it follows that a healthy scalp will have a beneficial effect on the hair.

Hair and Scalp Treatments

Dr. Hauschka Strengthening Hair Treatment has a warming and nourishing effect on the scalp. It is formulated to prevent hair loss and provides a healthy basis for strong new growth of hair. Use this hair oil before shampooing. Put it directly onto the hair and gently massage it into the scalp. It strengthens fine, thin hair and softens strong, dry hair. Fine hair should receive a treatment of about 20-30 minutes while strong, dry hair should be treated for at least 30 minutes. You sill want to keep your hair and scalp warm during this time by covering it with a cotton towel. Afterwards the hair should be washed thoroughly, possibly twice.

Dr. Hauschka Revitalizing Hair and Scalp Tonic promotes blood circulation in the scalp and is designed to enliven and neutralize the scalp, aiding in the prevention of dandruff and loss of hair. When used regularly, it normalizes the activity of the sebaceous glands, keeping strong hair soft and manageable, and strengthening thin hair. Apply after shampooing and conditioning or apply two or three times a week. massage it gently into the scalp; then comb and shape your hair while it is still moist.

Dr. Hauschka’s Neem hair treatments care for the hair and the scalp holistically, using only the finest organic and biodynamic ingredients.  These preparations have an effect on the three layers of the skin and therefore, when used properly, support the hair’s growth cycle.

Wear a Hat and Eat Well

Some final thoughts about hair care during the summer months.

Tucking your hair under a hat is one of the best ways to guard against sun-damaged hair. Hats are also a good protection against scalp burn.

Eating and sleeping well and avoiding unwanted stress have a positive effect upon the entire body. By taking care of yourself, you may be amazed at the beauty of your hair.
