There have been MANY iterations of this project of creating my own crystal tarot deck. I can not tell you how many different names, cover images, fonts, story lines, crystals, packaging changes (just to name a few) that were made.
Throughout the 3-year journey, there have been 2 consistent “knowings”:
1. I knew that I wanted to make a tarot deck that came as a kit that included the corresponding crystals with it. (This was actually the very first idea I had about this entire project.)
2. I knew that the messages would come directly from the crystals themselves.
Both of these “knowings” proved to be the driving force behind the entire project.
In order to hear the messages from the crystals, I had to take the time to build a relationship with them and to listen to them. This took months of creating sacred space and sitting quietly with my crystal friends. I started by setting up an “offering plate” (as seen in the photo above). On this plate, I put some ceremonial herbs, some water, incense, and a candle, along with the crystal ally that I wanted to get to know better. I would say, “These are offerings of friendship. I hope that you will accept these offerings, so that we can build a deeper relationship. What is the wisdom you want me to teach about you?” After stating my intention of wanting to connect with this crystal, I would sit quietly with the crystal and listen.
In doing this and incorporating the messages into each card, the deck started to become much more nuanced, much deeper, more detailed and more intimate.
It’s very real, that a crystal is a Being. So, when I established a ritual and stated my intention of wanting to get to know the crystal, it knew that I had energetically opened up a space where these Beings knew, “Oh, she’s now treating us and respecting us as Beings versus just objects. Now, we have the space open, where we can actually speak to her.”
And they did!
