Rhythm, Health and Wellness
As the title of this blog post suggests, for 2019, I will be bringing a rhythm to my blog posts. Each month will have a theme. I will start the month by making a crystal grid video that will focus on this theme. These videos can be found here. Then mid-month, I will follow up on the theme as it relates to holistic skincare, and post it here.
The theme for January is Health and Wellness. You can see my crystal grid video for Health and Wellness here.
History of Dr. Hauschka and Rhythm
Chemist Dr. Rudolf Hauschka considered it his life’s mission to heal humanity and the earth. It was an impulse that came not only from compassion but from a scientist’s curiosity.
He found a mentor in Dr. Rudolf Steiner, a renowned philosopher whose work merged science and spirituality into a comprehensive world-view he called Anthroposophy. At a conference in 1923, Hauschka spoke with Steiner and asked him his big question; What is the meaning of life? Steiner replied, Study rhythm. Rhythm is the carrier of life.
Hauschka was inspired. He began to look at things differently. He started to see rhythm everywhere – within and all around every living thing. It was all rhythm, from a heartbeat to the cycles of the seasons. It seemed clear that this force that separates the living from the mineral is carried along by rhythm.
In short, he developed a rhythmic processing method that incorporated exposing a living plant extract to the rhythmic polarities that it would encounter in life; cold and warmth, light and dark, motion and stillness. This process resulted in creating a vital essence of a living plant extract that remained stable for decades. Hauschka founded WALA, where he manufactured Anthroposophic and homeopathic remedies.
Along comes Elisabeth Sigmund
In the early 1960’s, esthetician Elisabeth Sigmund from Sweden started utilizing the power of rhythm in guiding the skin of her clients’ back to health by using gentle, rhythmical movements of lymph stimulation. This technique helped to give their immune system a boost while restoring their skin to radiance.
Elisabeth Sigmund understood the vital link between rhythm, health and wellness. She approached Hauschka and together they applied this knowledge of rhythm to develop the Dr. Hauschka Skin Care preparations, treatment and philosophy.
In conclusion
