To Tone Or Not To Tone…
that is the question. Do you use a facial toner?
As a young girl growing up in Vienna, one place that held an ever-fascinating draw for Elisabeth Sigmund was her mother’s dressing table. The things to be discovered there seemed magical and almost endless. She particularly liked a simple toning preparation with hamamelis virginiana (witch hazel) prepared by a chemist to use after cleansing.
Decades later when Sigmund developed her own natural skin care range, she remembered these fascinating treasures including the witch hazel toner of her childhood. This memory inspired her to work with the WALA team to create Dr. Hauschka Facial Toner, which made it’s debut in 1967. Fifty years ago!
The simple yet effective Facial Toner formulation of witch hazel and anthyllis supports your skin’s natural processes of cleansing and renewal. Your skin feels fresh and revitalized afterward. Most commercially produced witch hazel astringents, like the familiar drugstore preparations, contain very little of the botanical itself. They are usually paired with synthetic denaturants like isopropyl alcohol. Witch hazel leaf and bark, extracted thoughtfully, are rich in toning and fortifying tannins. The formulation has not changed since 1967.
Many clients ask whether they really need to use a toner or not. The Dr. Hauschka Facial Toner (or Clarifying Toner) completes the cleansing process and increases efficacy of the preceding product application without drying the skin. Consider it like a primer for your moisturizer. So the answer is yes! First cleanse, then tone, then moisturize your skin to help you look and feel your best.
